This resource is meant to equip believers not to focus on sin, but rather to expose lies, uproot them, and change our minds as we agree with the heart of God (repentance that results in wholeness in our souls). Our spirits have been perfected, but our souls need intentional care. The statements in this resource are not a script, but rather a launchpad into your own biblical language as you partner with Holy Spirit (speaking truth from the heart is far more important than following a script).
NOTICE
As Christ followers, not only have we been cleansed and freed from sin, we have also been delivered from the need to be sin-focused —because God isn’t sin focused! So what do we do when we are confronted with the reality that in our minds, wills, and emotions, we are struggling through sin issues, woundedness, and emotional brokenness?
First, we NOTICE when something in our soul isn’t matching up with our righteousness in Christ, and this is our trigger into conversation with the Lord. Through the gospel, sin acts as a launchpad into grace-filled connection with God!
FORGIVE
ONE: “Jesus, who do I need to forgive that is connected to this situation?”
TWO: “Jesus, what do I need to forgive............. for?”
THREE: “I choose to forgive............. for........... ”
Repeat steps TWO and THREE until Jesus says you are done.
FOUR: “I bless the person and release them to Jesus and His love.”
NAME
“Jesus, what lie am I believing that is connected to this situation?”
OR
“Jesus, what lie am I believing about myself that is connected to this situation?”
CUT OFF LIES
“Jesus, I repent for believing and agreeing with the lie that................................”
Cut off the lie:
“In Jesus’ name, I break agreement with this lie permanently.”
“In Jesus’ name, I cut off any ungodly spirits attached to this lie, and command those spirits to go to the feet of Jesus now.”
”Jesus, I give you these lies. Thank you for taking them.”
NURTURE TRUTH
“Jesus, what truth do you give me in exchange for this lie?”
“Holy Spirit, come sink this truth deep into my heart and fill the place where all that yuck used to be.”
Continue speaking truth over yourself about who God is and how He loves you. Jesus gives us truth so we can live in freedom.
