HONOR & CARE INSTITUTE: FAQ

+ What is the Honor + Care Institute?

The Honor + Care Institute is a two-semester training and formation program designed to equip adults to care for, disciple, support, and advocate for children. Through weekly teaching, practical assignments, community, and hands-on practicum experiences, students will receive tools that strengthen their ability to help children flourish in every sphere of society.

+ Who is the Honor & Care Institute for?

The Institute is for anyone who desires to grow in their understanding and care of children. Participants may include parents, teachers, nurses, childcare providers, counselors, social workers, foster parents, ministry leaders, coaches, therapists, and volunteers who work with children.

Whether you currently serve children professionally, minister to them in a church setting, or simply feel called to invest in the next generation, the Institute is designed for you.

+ Can it count for an internship?

Yes. For those pursuing vocational ministry, education, childcare, counseling, or other child-facing professions, portions of the Institute may be eligible to fulfill internship or practicum requirements. We encourage prospective students to discuss their specific requirements with Institute leadership prior to enrollment.

+ What topics will be covered?

Topics include:

  • The value of children
  • Attachment theory
  • Child development
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Sensory needs and regulation
  • Challenging behaviors
  • Discipleship of children
  • Classroom culture and leadership
  • Family engagement
  • Creating environments of belonging, honor, and care

+ What is the calendar?

The Honor + Care Institute follows a two-semester schedule running from September through May. The calendar includes weekly class hours (Sundays), a weekly practicuum for hands-on training, reading and assignments, and special training opportunities. A detailed calendar will be provided to accepted students before the start of the program.

+ Where will programming take place?

Most classes and Institute gatherings will take place at EVERYDAY. Practicum experiences will primarily occur within EVERYDAY KIDS environments.

+ Will childcare be offered?

We are unable to provide childcare and ask that childcare arrangements be made to avoid having children in attendance during training sessions.

+ How much does it cost?

Tuition for the Honor + Care Institute is $800. Tuition is payable in two installments, one at the beginning of each semester. Tuition covers all materials, workshops, required readings, and Institute activities. $400 is due on the first day of class, while the additional $400 is due in early January.

+ How many students will be accepted?

The Honor + Care Institute is intentionally designed to be a highly interactive and relational learning environment. To preserve the quality of training, mentorship, and practicum experiences, enrollment will be limited. Specific cohort sizes may vary from year to year. All applications will be prayerfully considered, but due to space limitations, not every qualified applicant is guaranteed admission.
